ABOUT TAVIEN
MY BACKGROUND
Welcome, I'm Tavien Goodson
An actor originally from Roswell, GA, and a new city transplant! I am a proud senior at Syracuse University graduating this upcoming May, pursuing a BFA in musical theatre. Working alongside amazing professors, strengthening my craft for the professional world. As a young Black queer man growing up in the South, I fell in love with the arts for the sense of purpose and individualism I gained from the theater. I remember my first show was called "Shh, We're Writing the Constitution!" where I was not a founding father but an ensemble member, in fact, and from the moment I put on that powdered wig from Party City, I knew performing was for me. I thrived on the stage and had such a deep love for it because I found stories and shows that truly saw me for me.
Throughout my training, I have been blessed with many opportunities to nourish my craft through some of the most reputable programs and schools. Graduating from Interlochen Arts Academy, attending Syracuse University, completing a classical acting semester at Shakespeare's Globe in London, and now finishing out my degree in the city through the Tepper program with Syracuse.
As an actor, I try to infuse myself into everything I work on. I aspire to be a beacon of visibility and hope for little Black boys who find themselves within my work. I find so much strength and pride within who I am and want that to reflect in the projects I take on and cultivate for myself.
When I am not in the theater, I am looking towards my hobbies, playing guitar, watching queer media, going to the gym, romanticizing my life on Pinterest, and cuddling with my cat, Roi (short for Roison!)
